Sports Leader Award
Levels 2 & 3Btec

Both courses are nationally recognized qualifications. The Level 2 award in Community Sports Leadership (year 12) gives students the skills needed to plan and deliver safe sporting and recreational activities. The level 3 award in Higher Sports Leadership (year 13) builds upon the leadership skills and experience gained through the Level 2 award and provides students with the opportunity to develop their skills with specialist groups of people, including people with a disability. These are enrichment courses taken as an option alongside your full-time programme of study.

This course gives students the opportunity to learn new skills, to work with specialist community groups, and is of value to all those who wish to further develop their coaching and leadership skills. It includes 10 hours of volunteering for the level 2 award and 30 hours for the level 3 award. These qualifications are practical in nature, with an emphasis on learning through doing and applying knowledge, rather than through theory.
