Mathematics is the science that deals with the logic of shape, quantity and arrangement. It is all around us, in everything we do and is the building block for everything in our daily lives, including mobile devices, architecture (ancient and modern), art, money, engineering, and even sports.
The course will allow students progress to Further Education or employment/apprenticeships. It runs over the academic year and will be taught 5 lessons a fortnight, in a small group using investigations, ICT and practical activities to aid learning and revision.
'Mathematics is vital to getting on in life. Careers increasingly demand strong numeracy and reasoning. We need far more of our young people going to university and into work with these skills'. Elizabeth Truss – Education Minister.
All students are now expected to continue studying mathematics at college if they have not yet achieved an A* - C at GCSE.
